Individual therapy
One-to-one psychotherapy for adults. It's for anything that has stayed with you longer than a few days and that you haven't been able to resolve on your own: a worry that won't settle, a low mood that colors everything, grief, a painful past, or a sense that life could be fuller than it is.
Couples and marriage therapy
A calm, structured place for both partners to say what is hard to say at home, and to be heard. We look at the pattern you're caught in, work on how you talk and repair after conflict, and make room for each other again. Partners can join from the same room or from two different places.
Family therapy
When one person struggles, the whole family feels it. Family therapy brings the people who matter together, sometimes from different homes or cities, to understand what is happening between them and find a better way through.
Addiction counseling
As a Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) as well as a licensed counselor and family therapist, I work with substance use itself and with the emotional and family problems that come with it, for the person using and for those who love them.
How I work
My training began in psychodynamically oriented psychotherapy in Sweden. This approach looks at how earlier experiences and inner patterns shape the way we feel and act today. My Master's degree added marriage and family therapy, which looks at the relationships around us and how a change in one person ripples through a couple or a family.
I combine these with practical, goal-oriented work when you want concrete change: calmer conflict, clearer boundaries, better ways to handle stress, a plan for staying sober. In practice this means:
- We go at your pace and start with what matters most to you now.
- We look at the problem in front of you and at what may lie underneath it.
- We set goals together and check from time to time whether therapy is helping.
- You can ask about the process at any time, and you are free to pause or stop.
Languages
Sessions are available in English, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. For Scandinavians living in the United States, talking in your first language can make it easier to reach feelings and memories that are hard to put into English. Couples who speak different first languages are welcome too.
Integrative therapy, on request
Some clients find meaning in astrology and would like a therapist who understands it. If you ask for it, I can bring it into our work as a reflective, symbolic language, alongside conventional psychotherapy. It is never part of therapy unless you request it.
Not sure which kind of therapy you need?
That's very common. Tell me briefly what is going on, and we'll work out together whether individual, couples or family sessions make the most sense, or a mix of them over time.
